There are pivotal moments in your life that send you off into an odyssey...

I am acutely aware of when eventful moments occur. A simple realisation and action become the foundation of your journey.

It was during the cold winter months of 1984. As I sat in my engineering lectures my memory began to take me back in time. There I was with my mother in the doctor’s surgery at the age of 10. I distinctly remember a moment where my mother was given a prescription for me. For some inexplicable reason, this overwhelming feeling was that under no circumstances was I to take this medication. It was just an intuitive feeling and something that I was very adamant about. I did not want to give up my personal power.

Growing up on a farm as a young child brought me in direct contact with nature and her elements. This was reinforced from the knowledge imparted to me from my grandmother. She taught the art of healing through herbs, the blending of nutritional foods and their effects on the body and mind. She developed her skills living in a small village in northern Greece with no doctors. Food and herbs were used medicinally and so it became second nature for me to use them.

Over the last few years of my degree, I furthered my understanding of food as medicine, experimented with different diets including veganism, practiced yoga and meditation, studied Taoism and massage, participated in numerous sports, completed various personal development courses and read lots of biographies on people.

Once I had completed my engineering degree in 1987, my career as an engineer took off in earnest. However my passion with natural therapies began to germinate and I simultaneously began to study and research those fields.

Four years later in 1991, my involvement with shiatsu began. I graduated as a Shiatsu Practitioner in November 1992, and began practicing shiatsu massage. 6 months later I was invited to become a lecturer at Shiatsu Australia, now known as Eastwest College of Natural Therapies.

We are all seeking and searching for answers that will allow us to see these causes and effects that tease us, wound us and make us laugh. During my 17 years of shiatsu massage I have seen and experienced the amazing power of touch. Where people have struggled and suffered, the relief experienced from a treatment has been overwhelming. People have been amazed and pleasantly surprised. The application of shiatsu has helped people create a balance within their body, mind and soul.

It is this that I embody and wish for you to experience.
